AVALON'S SUCCESS, OUR GOOD FORTUNE:
That's the title of an article architect Mark Asher wrote about
designing and building homes in Avalon. Mark's well-written piece
provides insight into what makes Avalon, and the high quality homes
built here, special. Read and enjoy the article here:
Working In Avalon
THIRTY YEAR FIXED RATE MORTGAGES remain at
an all time low of 3.87%, according to Freddie Mac. Jumbo
mortgages over $417,000 are a bit higher. Not only is it a great
time to finance a purchase, it's a great time to refinance a higher-rate
loan on your primary residence or vacation home. Email or call me for
the names of reliable mortgage lenders.
NAVAL AIR STATION WILDWOOD is home to a
fascinating collection of airplanes, ranging from a Boeing-Stearman to a
Grumman F-14 Tomcat. This past Friday, the last pilot to have
flown the F-14 visited the NASW Museum to see his former plane.
Lt. Cmdr. Dominick Telenko brought his wife and children to the museum
to show them the plane he flew on missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and
elsewhere including a flyby at the Gator Bowl in Florida. The Navy
donated the plane to the museum several years ago, and sent a crew to
repaint it. Lt. Cmdr. Telenko's name is still stenciled beneath
the plane's cockpit window; museum staff convinced Telenko to autograph
the plane.
The NASW Museum is currently undergoing renovations, but is open on its
regular winter schedule of Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.

VOTE EARLY, VOTE OFTEN! It's time
for the annual contest to name the top beaches in New Jersey! Cape May
County beaches have always been well represented, with Avalon, Stone
Harbor, and Sea Isle City placing in the top ten multiple times.
The Wildwoods have won the contest the past few years.

BLACK
BEAR LACROSSE: Based on conversations with my clients and
tenants, it seems as if lacrosse is bigger than ever....I thought this
might be helpful for your summer planning. Black Bear has provided
expert instruction and training at lacrosse camps and clinics for well
over a decade. Black Bear campers enjoy daily scrimmages, skills
sessions, contests, and daily personal interaction with the coaches.
Players of all abilities and experience are welcome and will be grouped
according to age and ability. We teach sound fundamentals and
develop our campers’ skills and Lacrosse IQ needed to compete at the
next level. The camps are run by top high school coaches in a fun
filled, fast paced environment and designed for Boys and Girls aged
4-15.

PCA BEAR AFFAIR FUNDRAISER: My friends and clients, Steve and
Ellen, are part of the Philadelphia Children's Alliance (PCA), a
non-profit organization that promotes healing and justice for child sex
abuse victims in Philadelphia. The PCA does this by conducting forensic
interviews in a child-friendly setting. The PCA also provides victim
support and advocacy services and work closely with medical and mental
health professionals in a collaborative investigative partnership with
the police, DHS and prosecutors to help these kids and their family
navigate through the criminal justice process and the counseling that
await them. PCA does all this in a new, state of the art space in
Philadelphia where all these professionals and trained specialists work
together on behalf of kids. The idea is that the interviews are done in
a very professional and safe way (that is, surrounded by toys and art,
not by police in a scary police district), where the interviewers can
make sure that all interested parties are represented at the interview.
